This piece was definitely written with current events in mind (the Ukranian conflict is in all the headlines right now). But the sad fact is that this is a recurring theme in history. The world is full of men who would rather live peaceful lives, but who find a deeply rooted resolve within themselves when their home and loved ones are threatened.
